The promise

Harris promised to direct clean-energy and environmental funding to historically marginalized communities. Through the Justice40 initiative and Inflation Reduction Act grants, billions were distributed to frontline and underserved areas for clean power, pollution cleanup, and resilience. The EPA awarded over $1.6 billion in community grants by 2024. These programs met their design goals before the end of her term and continue operating, marking the promise as fulfilled.
