The promise
Following the 2023 Middle East conflict, Trump pledged to deport all non-citizens who support Hamas or other terrorist groups and revoke student visas for pro-Hamas protesters. He promised immediate detainment and deportation of foreign nationals engaged in extremist activity. The plan would use the Patriot Act and existing immigration authority. Civil rights groups warn of overreach and profiling, while supporters argue it is necessary for national security. As of late 2025, ICE and DHS have been ordered to prepare a new screening system for implementation.
