I am directing EVERY Federal Agency in the United States Government to IMMEDIATELY CEASE all use of Anthropic's technology.
The promise
Trump announced in a written post that federal agencies must stop using Anthropic technology. He provided a six-month transition for agencies already using the company's products and threatened consequences if the company did not cooperate. The announcement followed a dispute over the conditions under which the military could use the company's artificial-intelligence systems. The administration's supporting argument was that a private technology supplier should not dictate how the armed forces carry out authorized missions. Anthropic's position emphasized safeguards concerning mass domestic surveillance and fully autonomous weapons, raising a competing concern about unrestricted military use. Trump's instruction and threats were separate from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's subsequent supply-chain-risk designation.
