A variant of earlier rent tax promise — DeSantis pledged gradual elimination of rent tax on business leases over time. He has pushed bills and included it in budget proposals; full phase-out not yet fully implemented.
Current status
As of November 8, 2025: the rate was reduced in earlier years and the 2025–26 plan targets full repeal, but the statutory phase-out is not fully enacted and businesses still owe residual tax until passage and implementation.
