The promise

Trump vowed to build a nationwide missile shield dubbed “Iron Dome for America.” The plan covers layered defense against ballistic and hypersonic threats using U.S. technology. In January 2025, an executive order tasked DoD with architecture studies. Early contracts were discussed, but experts doubt feasibility due to cost and scale. Supporters see deterrence boost; critics call it fiscally unrealistic and destabilizing for arms control. No physical system deployed yet; only planning stage.
