Drug pricing MFN deal with AstraZeneca for Medicaid

The promise

On October 10, 2025, President Trump announced a drug-pricing agreement with AstraZeneca under which certain drugs would be offered to Medicaid at discounted MFN (Most-Favored-Nation) rates. Under the deal, AstraZeneca commits to list those medicines via the forthcoming TrumpRx portal with steep discounts in exchange for tariff relief for a specified period. The goal is to reduce costs for low-income Americans and press other pharmaceutical companies to follow suit. Though this aligns with his broader drug pricing agenda, the scope is currently limited to selected drugs and Medicaid. Broader application to private insurance, full MFN across all drugs, and long-term legislative backing remain to be seen.
